My Running Races

This information is for Version 1.6 (debuting on the App Store December 2022)

Have you ever wanted to have a place where you could store the results of all of your races? That’s the purpose of My Running Races. I used to store my races in a spreadsheet and created formulas to calculate counts and averages, and would have to change them whenever I added a new race. Now I keep them in this app and can export them to a spreadsheet whenever I want. You can store whatever distances you want, but 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and Full Marathon are all included in the app by default. If you want to see other distances such as ultramarathons or other distances, just use the Distances tab to add them. Take a look at the features below.

Races

New in Version 1.6
Future races will show the # of days until the race. The bell icon in the upper left hand corner displays registration notifications that have been set (see Race Details below – PREMIUM).

The My Races icon on the lower tab bar opens a list of all of the races you’ve added to the app. You can filter by a specific race distance by touching the specific race length at the top, or touch All to see all races. By touching on any race, you can see all of the details of that race.
Add – To add a new race, click the Plus (+) icon at the upper right.
Export – To save all of your races to a CSV file (can be opened in Excel), click the export icon (box with arrow point up) in the upper right corner. This will give you a chance to send the file to a cloud file storage service or other places using the iOS Files app. This is a good way to make a backup of your races should you ever restore your phone.

Details

The top image shows information about a race after it has been completed. The lower image shows information about a race before it has been running (including registration date and time and link).
New in Version 1.6
You can set two reminders for a race registration so you don’t forget for those tough to get registrations (PREMIUM). You can also now save a link to an online photo album to organize even more photos for a race.

When viewing your races in the list under My Races, you can select a race to see the details. You will also see the details page when storing a new race.

Date – For new races, the Date is initially the current date. Touch the date to display a calendar and choose the date of your race. Dates in the future will be considered “planned” races and not reflect in My Stats. They will be reflected in States if you have purchased the premium upgrade.

Time – Enter the official finish time of your race using the HH:MM:SS format where HH is hours, MM is minutes, and SS is seconds.

Overall – This is where you can enter the place you finished overall as well as the total number of participants in the race.

Division – You can use these fields to record where you finished within your age group.

Results Link – Many race organizers record results online. Copy and paste the link here. You can always touch the link icon to the right to launch and view your official results.

Stats

The My Stats page gives a dashboard that includes your counts by race distance, your fastest race and time by distance, and a table summary for each year.

Chart

PREMIUM – You can track your race results over time on the Charts screen. Touch a distance at the top to show a graphical view of your races for that distance.

Import

PREMIUM – Entering all of your race results can be a lot of work. If you have your results stored in a spreadsheet or other file, you can import the data and save time. The file format must be a CSV (comma separated values) file with the “.csv” extension. You can create a CSV file from Excel or other text editor. There are specific column headings required (although some are optional). Touch the question mark (?) icon in the upper right corner for details. You can also see a sample file here:

Sample File

NOTE: This file is an Excel (spreadsheet) file. The file needs to be saved as a CSV file from Excel to be imported into the app. You can convert this file from Excel, or export the Sample File from the app.

Map

New in Version 1.6
The map page (PREMIUM) now shows pins for each city/town where you have raced, and even lists multiple races for the same location. The pins can be turned on and off.

PREMIUM – If you’re like me and trying to get to races in as many states as you can, here’s where you can keep track. As of now, the map will track each US State, the District of Columbia, and any Canadian Province as entered in the City/State in your race details.
Version 1.1 – Races saved in the future will show as planned races.

Distances

Create and manage custom distances for your race results. The app will show 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and Full Marathon by default, but you can create your own with the Add (+) icon at the top. Once added, the other screens will allow you to filter by your new distances and you can add new races on the My Races screen for your custom distances.

New in Version 1.6
If you’ve set reminders for any races, the bell icon on the My Races page will display a page with your active notifications indicating when they will occur.
